HAZWOPER Hazardous Materials Specialists

This advanced course is designed for Hazardous Materials Specialists (HMS) tasked with chemical spill recognition, defensive and offensive response actions, site remediation verification, and expertise in local and regional emergency response plans. Participants will gain the specialized knowledge and skills required to lead and manage hazardous material incidents effectively.

• Identify and assess chemical spills and hazardous material incidents
• Perform both defensive and offensive response actions to mitigate hazards
• Verify the effectiveness of site remediation efforts and ensure compliance with safety standards
• Develop, implement, and manage local and regional emergency response plans
• Coordinate with local, state, and federal agencies during hazardous material incidents
• Lead emergency response teams and provide technical expertise during incidents
• Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and site control measures
