Course Description
This course provides essential training on the proper management of universal wastes, including labeling, handling, storage, and emergency response. Participants will learn how to comply with EPA regulations while minimizing health and environmental risks associated with universal waste.
- Understand what universal waste is and why it is regulated separately from hazardous waste
- Identify common types of universal waste, including: Batteries, Pesticides, Mercury-containing equipment (e.g., thermostats), Lamps (e.g., fluorescent, LED)
- Learn the health and environmental hazards associated with universal waste
- Properly label, handle, and store universal waste to ensure compliance with EPA regulations
- Understand storage time limits and requirements for universal waste handlers
