Course Description
This training provides essential knowledge and hands-on experience for the safe use of Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) in hazardous environments. Participants will learn pre-donning checks, operational procedures, and emergency protocols tailored to their specific workplace needs.
- Types of breathing apparatus and their components
- Hazardous environments requiring respiratory protection (e.g., ammonia, chlorine, wastewater)
- Conducting pre-donning checks and tests on SCBA
- Proper donning, fitting, and operational use of SCBA
- Communication procedures while using SCBA
- Calculating working duration and emergency escape times
- Using Breathing Apparatus Control Tally Boards
- Safety procedures for entrapment and emergency scenarios
- Cleaning, maintenance, and testing procedures after use
- Firefighting, search and rescue, chemical splash suits, and decontamination exercises tailored to workplace needs
