    • Recognize how GHS improves workplace safety through standardized hazard classification and communication.
    • Identify employees and workplaces that require GHS awareness and training.
  • GHS Hazard Classification System

    • Understand how chemicals are classified based on their physical and health hazards.
    • Recognize the role of hazard categories in communicating the severity of chemical hazards.
    • Apply hazard classification information to support safe chemical handling and use.
  • Physical, Health, and Environmental Hazards

    • Identify common physical hazards such as flammability, explosivity, and reactivity.
    • Recognize health hazards including toxicity, irritation, sensitization, carcinogenicity, and reproductive hazards.
    • Understand environmental hazard classifications and their significance in chemical management.
  • GHS Label Elements

    • Understand the required elements found on GHS-compliant chemical labels.
    • Recognize the purpose of signal words, hazard statements, precautionary statements, and product identifiers.
    • Apply label information to identify hazards and implement appropriate safety precautions.
  • GHS Pictograms and Hazard Communication

    • Identify GHS pictograms and understand the hazards they represent.

    • Interpret hazard information quickly and accurately using GHS symbols and label elements.
  • Chemical Labeling Requirements

    • Understand labeling requirements for workplace containers and shipped chemicals.
    • Recognize the importance of maintaining legible, accurate, and compliant labels.
    • Apply proper labeling practices to support workplace safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Safety Data Sheets (SDS)

    • Understand the purpose and structure of the GHS-compliant 16-section Safety Data Sheet format.
    • Locate critical information related to chemical hazards, exposure controls, emergency response, and handling requirements.
    • Use SDS information to make informed decisions regarding chemical safety.
  • Reading and Interpreting SDS Information

    • Identify key sections of a Safety Data Sheet relevant to workplace operations.
    • Interpret hazard, first aid, storage, disposal, and emergency response information.
    • Apply SDS information to reduce chemical exposure and improve workplace safety.
  • Other Hazard Communication Systems

    • Compare GHS labeling and classification requirements with other hazard communication systems.
    • Recognize the purpose and application of HMIS and NFPA labeling systems.
    • Understand similarities and differences between various hazard communication methods.
  • GHS Compliance and Workplace Safety
