Key Points to RememberEven if you have employees that only "move drums" on and off trucks that come and go from your facility - they still require training. If you prepare shipping documents (manifests or bills of lading) you will require our full day DOT program If you ship samples by air - IATA training is required (DOT training is a prerequisite) If you prepare shipments by vessel (boat) IMDG training is what you are looking for
DOT Training Programs- DOT Initial Training - 49 CFR 172.704
Program Length: One day DOT employees are trained to perform their job function that directly affects hazardous materials transportation safety. The DOT training affords the employees the opportunity to learn how to perform their duties in a manner that complies with the Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. This programs includes Security Awareness. Refresher: Every 3 years - DOT Refresher Training - 49 CFR 172.704
Program Length: One-half day Every three years the DOT requires that your employees who affect hazardous material shipments get retrained. This program will cover the employees job duties that affect shipments and update the employees on any regulatory changes. -
- DOT for Shippers and Receivers
Program Length: 2 hours DOT for Shippers and Receivers will give your employees only the necessary training to understand the DOT rules and regulations as they apply to their job. Refresher: Every 3 years
IATA Training- IATA Initial Training
Program length: one-half day Prerequisite: DOT Initial Training - Your Employees are trained to perform a job function that directly affects hazardous materials transportation safety specifically air shipments. The training provides employees the opportunity to review the Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and also to perform their duties in a manner that complies with the IATA standards.
- Refresher: Every 2 years
- IATA and DOT (Dual Initial Certification)
- Program length: one and one-half days
Prerequisite: none - This program will train your employees to prepare and manage shipment via ground and air. This program is a combination of
- our initial DOT and IATA training programs.
- Refresher: IATA - every 2 years; DOT - every 3 years (but it makes sense to do both at the same time!)
IMDG Training- IMDG Training
Shipping by vessel requires its own unique training program. The training provides employees the opportunity to learn their duties in a manner that complies with the IMDG regulations.
